Grenzstadt (formerly Filder) is a Metropolis near the southwestern world border. Its Founder and Mayor is KingDaKa4.

History

Founding and Early Inactivity

Grenzstadt was created on April 24th, 2025 when KingDaKa4 decided to start a settlement out by the world border. After several days of walking and searching, he found the perfect spot to settle down. He then mined and sold the minerals in the area's caves in order to finance the foundation of a village, which he named Filder. Now having founded the settlement, he dug a large circular hole down to bedrock and sealed it with glass to create the town square.

After founding Filder, KingDaKa4 built several farm buildings near the hole. However, he suddenly disappeared from the server in July 2025, leaving Filder in stasis for the remainder of the year.

Revival and Initial Rise

At the end of December 2025, KingDaKa4 returned to the server. Immediately after his sudden return, he decided to remove the old farm buildings and to rename Filder to Grenzstadt. He replaced the removed buildings with a new mushroom farm and sugarcane farm before taking a break for a few days.

It was only at the end of January when KingDaKa4 started to invite a few players; notably VanillaCake__, who quickly became heavily involved in the development of Grenzstadt.

Over the course of February, VanillaCake__ worked with KingDaKa4 to radically expand Grenzstadt through major terraforming, frequent advertising, and hours of building. Grenzstadt grew from a 5-player Tribe to a 30-player Town in just the first week of February, and had become a small City by the halfway point of the month.

By March 2026, Grenzstadt had risen to the status of a 100-player Metropolis. It has since become one of the three largest and most active towns on the server in 2026, joined by the larger and more established cities of Windfall and Squirtville. Not long after hitting this milestone, Grenzstadt suffered its most significant grief after two disgruntled players placed seven lavacasts around the city as revenge for the removal of their low-effort houses. The lavacast removal and subsequent countergrief rallied dozens of active players in the server to Grenzstadt's aid, leading to the griefers' nearby base of Fartonia getting completely surrounded by lava walls and grief.

Spring Interim

At the end of March 2026, KingDaKa4 went on an indefinite, though now announced hiatus. In the meantime, he granted mayorial power to VanillaCake__ to ensure that Grenzstadt did not again fade into inactivity due to the mayor's absence.

Thanks to the general inactivity of many regular players not only in Grenzstadt, but the server as a whole, April and May 2026 were much quieter months in the city. The main three events to occur in this time were the hosting of the First Grenzstadt Anniversary Build Competition (won by Discoo), the beginnings of the construction of the Grenzstadt University of Architecture by LizzieSteph, and the creation of the Fürstwaren Store and /warp store in the Palasfeld district.

Second Rise

On May 31st 2026, KingDaKa4 returned from inactivity and his position as Mayor was restored. Together, he and VanillaCake__ created the massive Neugard district as an area for new players to build in, allowing them to resume frequent Grenzstadt advertisements and invites.

- Grenzstadt is the German word for "Border town".

- The Filder[1] is a gently rolling and very fertile plateau in southern Germany near Stuttgart.

- Central Grenzstadt is only 300 blocks away from the western world border, and 4,000 blocks away from the southern world border.

- Grenzstadt had one of the most rapid growth rates of any town in the server, rising from five members to one hundred in only a single month.
